55th Reunion 2011
55th Reunion

Welcome to the official web site of the Class of 1956. The Class of 1956
is a regional alumnae organization independent of, but affiliated with, the Bryn Mawr Alumnae Association.

Our goal is to fill this site with interesting and useful information about pre-reunion and reunion activities as well as help you get reacquainted with classmates.

Saturday Lunch Options
Our Class Meeting and Memorial Service in our hospitality suite in New Dorm are scheduled from 11:00-12:30. We will have little time for a group discussion or schmoozing during that time period. Since there is nothing on the College schedule until 2:30, we could extend our Class Meeting to 2:15 pm with a lunch break from 12:30-1:15.

There are multiple lunch options during our lunch break. The College provides a Saturday lunch under tents on Merion Green from 12:30 -2:00 pm. It is a grill with hotdogs and hamburgers and one vegetarian option. For those choosing the College lunch, classmates can go to eat under the tent with help from students if needed, or have student help to bring their lunch back to our hospitality suite. The College has agreed to do that for individual classmates or for groups of classmates who provide their lunch choices in advance. Nancy Masland has agreed to help organize that group effort. Those staying at the Radnor Hotel and probably in other area hotels can request take out lunches and bring them to the hospitality suite. Others staying at home or with friends could also bring bag lunches.

Saturday Night Dinner Options
For those who take either full package—with or without dorm room, Saturday dinner at Wyndham is included. The menu is: red wine braised short rib or stuffed spring squash, with wine, salad and dessert included. For those booking a la carte, there is the option to not eat in Wyndham and to thus be free to eat with classmates off campus. That could be with others from their undergrad dorm, by major, with classmates who were friends, or with those with shared interests such as college theatre.

There are a number of restaurants in the area but only a few within reasonable walking distance. Thus either car pools or taxis would work. If you select your own dining option, transportation will be on your own.

As with the Friday lunch at Tango someone on the committee could possibly arrange a group meal or an interest group could. Some suggestions are:
Paramour Restaurant at the Wayne Hotel
Glenmorgan Bar and Grill at the Radnor Hotel (where some of us are staying)
Yangming—where the Conestoga Inn was
Restaurant Cerise, Café
White Dog Café,
Silk Cuisine
Mediterranean Grill
Fraschetta (Italian that accommodates large groups)

They and others are online. There is also Tango for dinner which has a different menu than at lunch. Yangming had some sanitation issues and was closed and now has reopened and after revisits is all clear.. None of these are as close as Wyndham.

Those planning to attend the Sunday activities are encouraged to bring their 50th Reunion large brimmed straw hats or any other large brimmed straw hat they have for the Parade of Classes from 9:30-10:00 am. Our 50th Reunion hat had a light blue ribbon around its cap. The College provides carts for those who do not wish to walk in the parade.
